Rolling Weenie: Six-Wheeled 1991 Geo Metro Stretch

The pictures speak volume here, but we do like a couple quotes from the ad:

“Custom fabricated by a Boeing airplane manufacturer ”

“With 6 wheels and three cylinders it’s not the fastest car in the world. Steep grades you have to drop into third at around 40-50mph”

“Leaks oil typical for a 91′” Continue reading Rolling Weenie: Six-Wheeled 1991 Geo Metro Stretch

Incomplete 944 Shooting Brake Project

All the best ads involve “purchased the donor car, and started cutting.”  This has the potential to be awesome when complete, but there’s a long way to go.

The seller apparently started this project in April 2015.  It’s not clear what the donor wagon was, but maybe a reader knows?  Regardless, our condolences go out to the seller, who had a loss in the family.

Just the right buyer might find this to be a reasonable deal, but it’s not cheap at $8,500.  That being said, all parts needed to finish the body are supposedly included.

Yep, he or she definitely started cutting.  Obviously, some parts have been added, too.

Is that hatch from a wagon or minivan?

One more pic, for good measure.

Here’s the goal…

Ad text:

I started this in April 2015, First got the car running replacing the position sensors, fuel filter. Then purchased the donor car, and started cutting. ( I have pictures of the step by step instructions from beginning to end ) I had a recent lost in my family (October)  and with financial obligations and responsibilities I can’t continue this project. I’m not saying much about this project any body-man or Body Shop can figure it out. My intentions were to finish it off as in the completely finish one included in my picture gallery but to installed an LS1 Corvette  to give it some attitude. The year is an 1985.5 Porsche 944 I will listen to offers but we all know any serious buyers will make the effort to inspect the car in person and ready and willing to make an offer in person. What’s included in the sale are the following: 1- Turbo Nose complete with all lights and wiring harness. 2- right front Turbo fender 3- Rear spoiler ( under the bumper, maybe it’s called rear diffuse r ?) 4- front leather power seats (driver’s side only) 5- Original Tool Kit 6- 22/24 ga sheet metal to trim and weld on both side of the car 7- Quarter glass to be fitted after the sheet metal is in place (#6 on list) This will be a one time offering Ebay will not see this again from me! When completed it’s value (2009 6-8 sold in the UK for $30k each w/o the LS1 Engine)       Will be $35-$40k with the LS1 Engine. But why sell it ! My feedback and time here on Ebay shows I’m a person with good murals that always try to be fare. Good luck to the winner of this easy project.

Claimed Super Low Mileage Jensen GT

We’ve featured the wonderful Jensen GT once before, but that was a project car. This appears to be a sub-9K mile car in amazing condition.  Our biggest worries here would be issues arising due to lack of use, and the fact that we’re not huge fans of white cars.  Either way, this is one of the coolest shooting brakes ever made, as it’s a rarity AND it features the Lotus twin-cam four cylinder used in its cousin, the Jensen Healey roadster.

Supposedly, this car runs well and its interior is in ‘like new’ condition, save for a sagging headliner.  See below for the interior fabric – we might be in love!

Front end is all Jensen Healey, but the groovy wagon-back is visible from this angle.

Here’s the shooting brake money shot.

The classic wood dash really does appear to be in like-new condition.

Yes, that was seat fabric you glanced in the last shot.  Supposedly, it’s original.  Needless to say, we love it.

Things are very tidy under the hood, where the Lotus twin-cam sits at a fairly extreme angle.

“Jensen Motors introduced the Jensen GT, a shooting-brake version of the Jensen-Healey, in 1975. The new configuration was a 2+2 design with a very limited back seat. Aside from the body shape and seating, relatively little differed from the roadster. Acceleration and top speed were slightly reduced due to the increased weight and additional smog control components on the engine. During its short run (Sept 1975 – May 1976), 509 Jensen GTs were built before Jensen Motors went into receivership.”

Motoexotica is pleased to present our 1976 Jensen GT, number 30224. This GT has only 8,021 miles on it and it is one of the last cars built before the venerable Jensen Motors LTD. closed its doors for good. This “Shooting Brake” style coupe has been well preserved and is a fine example of the Jensen GT. This car, know by Jensen fans as the “good thinking car” is in excellent condition, and was equipped with the original tires until recently replaced with new ones for daily use, and will be included with the car once sold. This car is also slightly famous with a nice little write up in Classic Motorsports, July 2013 issue, on page 53!
The original white paint looks very nice from siting in a garage for so many years, shows well and has only a handful of small knicks. The chrome is bright and looks nice as well as the other trim.
The interior is also very nice and appears “Like New”. The dash retains all of the original switches and gauges, with the exception of one window switch which was changed out for a similar one. All the options, including the original clock is also in good working order with the exception of the horn which does not operate.. The headliner is original and sags slightly, but it is still presentable. The AC was inoperable, so it was removed, but we have all the parts, and they will come with the car. The door panels still have the factory protective plastic covers on them, which has kept the fabric fresh!
Last but not least is the power train. The Lotus Sourced, All Aluminum, 16 valve 4 cylinder runs very well, and is original, with only an oil change and a new timing belt added as stated by the previous owner. The twin Stromberg carburetors are well sorted, tuned nicely, and is capable of propelling this GT 0-60 in less than 10 seconds. It is a lot of fun to drive and is quite powerful for its day. As of now the muffler has been removed from the car, and was retained. The pre muffler and catalytic converter are still present and really gives a nice sound to this GT. That, in combination with lower rear springs added for better handling, makes this a capable car with a huge fun factor. The horn is still the original unit but it is currently inoperable.
The Jensen GT is a very rarely seen sports car, with a deserving place in history. Here is your chance to own a beautiful, low mileage example today.
The current The Vin is 30224 and is being sold with a clear Arizona actual miles title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!

Eckler’s 1969 Corvette Shooting Brake

Here we have an incomplete 1969 Corvette Sport Wagon shooting brake project. According to the seller, this is a relatively low mileage Vette. A previous owner started the project in the 70s and passed away before it was completed.  The car then went into storage for 30 years or so.

There were a few kits out there to make this sort of thing, but they’re pretty unusual.  This seller claims this is an Eckler’s kit.  That company is still around, but the mold to make this kit is gone.  If that’s true, this is a pretty rare opportunity to finish someone’s 70s custom project.  Supposedly, the glass and other parts needed to finish are included in the sale.

Purists, of course, will lament the kit on such a low mileage ’69 Vette!  This one, however, is equipped with an automatic and the seller does not specify engine, so it’s not likely anything tremendously rare.  The sub-$15K asking price reflects that, as well.

The car is prepped for paint and the process had actually started.  You can see some overspray from painting the door jambs.

The shape is, well, unique.

One Mean Vega Kammback

Yesterday, we featured a 1998 V8 Cougar made into a shooting brake.  Today, we have a Vega  Kammback shooting brake made into a V8 monster.

Vega V8 conversions pop up from time to time, but a converted wagon is fairly rare.  Of course, this isn’t exactly a sleeper, with the giant hood and massive exhaust, but there could be ways to remedy that.  Given the light body and small block Chevy stroked to 383 cubic inches, this should be a lot of fun in a straight line. Fortunately, this also has disc brakes to slow it down.

Front end is unmistakably Vega, but with a monster hood that looks like it came off of a modified Camaro.

Rear end is pure Kammback!  Note Centerline (or Centerline-style) wheels at rear.  Apparently, the seller has the original steel wheels to match the fronts.

Interior shows a combination of stock and race bits, notably with racing bucket seats.  Later support isn’t a concern here, as any racing this car does will be on a drag strip!  Note how much the cowl induction scoop impacts the driver’s view.

Here’s the modified 383, which should move this little Kammback quite nicely.

Completely street legal with awesome potential at the track. Look at others at twice the asking price with multiple drag runs…this car has never been raced

As can be seen in the pictures, this Vega is nearly flawless,,, tastefully done 2 tone yellow and white paint with accents: brand new front tires and the 2 additional matching factory steel mag wheels with caps are included for the rear if you want to have all four the same….perfect bumpers, glass, all trim, new weatherstripping and emblems…amazing condition for a forty year old car to start with, then beautifully restored

A truly unique opportunity to enjoy nostalgia drags in a DeLorean styled compact car that is extremely presentable in appearance with all the V-8 conversion challenges already completed and only final touches awaiting the new owner…take it to a cruise night and be prepared for some major attention

Proceeds from the sale of this Vega will be used to purchase items of need and comfort for homeless veterans in the Los Angeles area

SORRY…No joy rides will be available, for this car will wheelie easily and the rear bounce bars have not yet been installed…they are available through Jegs and other suppliers for $150-$300 depending upon style and design

Very nice racing interior, new door panels, headliner, rear compartment area nicely carpeted.

Call for more information…clear title in my name, current non-op status……Remember that 1975 is the magic year of smog requirements in California-no smog inspections on 75 and older vehicles…seriously interested calls only please….this has been a very popular V-8 conversion for decades….if you look around, you’ll find very few Vegas… and when you do, most are incomplete, 4 cylinder originals with rusty, battered bodies requiring major work before the V-8 conversion even begins ..open to interesting offers, including possible trade for nice full size woody sided wagon with working A/C

BYO Engine and Trans and Have a Cool V8 Vega Wagon

The Chevy Vega Wagon is one we don’t see often.  This one is an incomplete project with no engine or transmission included.  The seller claims this is setup and ready for a V8 swap.

The Vega’s successor, the Monza, was available with a few factory V8s, but the Vega never was.  As some of the custom parts needed to swap in a V8 are included, this might not be TOO scary of a project.  Engine mounts are the main item not mentioned, but those shouldn’t be the hardest parts to find/make.  The buyer does get the oil pan and headers, which seem to me like some of the parts most likely to interfere.

I it were me, I’d finish the swap with a nice, torquey build and keep everything looking as stock as possible to yield a pretty awesome sleeper.  Four of the dog dish/trim ring combos – like that seen on the front right – would suit this car just fine, maybe even with a little custom widening of the steel wheels…

The car looks pretty good in terms of body, but why does the front sit so high?

Here’s the cool, shooting brake profile.

Interior looks pretty good, though I wonder if a paintable dash cap is available vs. the rug.

Ample storage space is occupied by parts.

More parts – supposedly most of the custom parts needed for a V8 installation (presumably a SBC).
