1940 Ford Coupe with Lincoln Mark VII Underpinnings

Have you ever looked at a 1940 Ford and a 1980s Mark VII LSC and wondered what would happen if they got friendly? Well, now you know. In this case, the one who decided to answer the question with a lot of custom work also decided that the Mark VII interior just wasn’t purple enough. The rest is history.

Naturally, the 302 V8 was kept, which means this thing should move pretty well, though we have no idea what it weighs. The seller lists the mileage as 28K, but we’re not sure what that means. It’s possible that a low mileage, wrecked car was used, but that might imply that this was built in the early 1990s, when there were still low mileage Mark VIIs. Regardless, we like the overall look here, as it’s basically a really wide 1940 Ford, but the interior color is just too much. What would it take to change that, aside from a wrecked Lincoln, and wouldn’t it be fun to drive this back from South Dakota?

The body isn’t exactly stock here and the end result is either wide Ford or giant VW – we’re still trying to decide.

Profile has even more Beetle in it.

We love split windows!

When we first saw this pic, we threw up a little at the purple, but also thought this was awfully familiar. First guess was T-Bird/Cougar, which is essentially correct.

…but, this shot confirmed the car’s Lincolnness.

302 looks to be stock, which means plenty torquey and with a nice exhaust note.

Heck yeah, some of the lighting matches the purple interior!
