This is NOT a Gremlin. It’s Even Better!

If it’s not a Gremlin, what is this car?  It’s an AMC Eagle Kammback.  The most familiar and popular AMC Eagle product from this era was the station wagon, but there were other body styles.  This odd little hatchback is likely fairly off-road capable – it even has decent ground clearance.  If you like the Lada Niva, this is probably the closest you can get in an American car.

This car shows 32K miles and the condition might support it.  If the car has 132K, it’s been nicely stored.  In any case, mechanical parts shouldn’t be hard to find to keep it running nicely.  I’ve always found these AMC product interesting and would be torn between the Kammback and the SX4 “Sport” Coupe.  Of course, there’s always the true unicorn, the Sundancer convertible, which left the factory as a coupe.

Most will just assume this is a Gremlin from any distance, but the C-pillar is actually quite different.

Front the front, this could be any Eagle.

Condition appears to be very good, though a couple little dings are visible.

Strangely, the rear license plate and bumper are much dirtier than the rest of the car.  That could simply be due to aerodynamics (or relative lack thereof).

Damn – that’s blue and I love it.  Clutch pedal is, thankfully, visible.

Apparently, the front seats have been recovered, as the rear seats likely have the original upholstery.  Don’t you just want to put your tongue on that thirty-plus-year-old velour?

Jeep CJ owners should find this familiar – the 4.2L inline six was in almost every AMC product at the time.
