Take your pick: Two Mark Cross edition LeBaron convertibles (plus a bonus Dodge 600).

Perhaps Chrysler envied AMC’s co-branded special editions of the seventies.  That could explain the Chrysler LeBaron Mark Cross edition.  One might even suggest that they envied AMC so much that they bought what was left of the company five years later.  These early LeBarons offer pure K-car squareness lost in the later models.

Interestingly, two are for sale on eBay at the same time. This could be a Lebaron death match.
Car #1 comes to us sans exterior faux woodgrain and with the naturally aspirated 2.2L four cylinder engine.  What the good news?  A claimed 12,000ish miles.

Update: SOLD for $2,956.89 after 18 bids (all three sold, this brought the highest price)
Car #2 is a woodgrain + turbo + fuel injection model with 100K miles.  Hmm…such a tough decision.

Update: SOLD for $1,875 after 18 bids
Woodgrain really brings out the Costanza-ness.  It’s not clear whether George’s ill-fated John (with an H) Voight LeBaron was a Mark Cross edition.
Subtle and tasteful?  Well, by today’s Louis Vuitton, “plaster the logo everywhere” standards, this actually is pretty tasteful.
TURBO, baby!  Also, the AC compressor is easy to reach if you ever need to.

Car #3 is a Dodge 600 ES Convertible – same car minus the Mark Cross and Chrysler-ness, but with the ‘sport’ package (everything is relative).  Does this make the choice even tougher?

In case you weren’t sure, this car is driven by the front wheels.

This is a 1982 Chrysler Lebaron which was purchased brand new by my father-in law.  The car has 12,001 original miles as he barely drove it around the neighborhood.  The car was sent recently to our local mechanic to get the car in selling shape.  The notorious carburator was replaced as these Chryslers were notorious for the terrible carburators, so this should dispel fears of a potential repair down the road.  The engine received some other repairs to replace some other components which were either leaking or needing replacement soon including new battery replacment.  The total bill was $1,600, so you’re getting a very driveable vehicle.  The leather is in great shape and the interior is very nice with normal aging that is typical for a 30+ year old vehicle.  The power windows operate as does the radio.  The only non-working part of the vehicle is the convertible top as either the motor is inoperable or the wiring needs replacement or re-connection.  The outer body is in good shape with some minor rust in a few places.  The vinyl top is in good shape with no cracks.  The tires may be somewhat older as I don’t have any records when they were purchased.  The trunk has the spare and cover for the roof.  I can answer further questions about anything you’d like.

1984 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible, 2.2 Turbo 4 cylinder, auto.  Bought last fall for my wife for a summer car, she doesn’t like it.  Title is not in my name, but is clean and signed but not dated.  Talking computer tells you “Don’t forget your keys” and “Please fasten your seatbelt” among other things.  Odometer is reading all dashes, doesn’t work but I’m guessing the mileage is stored in the computer.  Was non-functional when I got it, so I couldn’t tell you the miles, but it’s been very well taken care of.  Good shape overall as seen in the pictures.  Turbo spools up like it should, and this car gets up and moves believe it or not.  Runs and drives and stops good.  Tires are good, as is the battery.  Power top works as it should.  Small rip in the convertible top as seen in the pics.  Floor and trunk are in great shape as seen in pics.
Recent service done within the last 2 1/2 yrs at local repair shop with receipts: new timing belt/cam seal ($996.23), transmission front seal and o-ring/filter – trans pulled to perform work and re-installed($667.57), new left drive axle($256.92), new rt outer cv boot and center link u-joint(253.22), new turbo cooling oil line ($105.07)
Some things that need attentiion to be perfect:  ash tray is broken, trunk lid won’t stay up (cylinders are shot) power lock in driver door squeals (doesn’t work right), a/c blows warm, small spot of paint bubbling on hood, small chip in driver door glass, small line in grill missing, power seat switch missing button cap (still works), one section of ‘wood’ in front of dr rear wheel popping up, weather stripping missing on dr rear quarter glass.  All things considered, for a nearly 30 yr old car, it’s a decent little summer cruiser that you don’t see very often and can have some fun with on the cheap.
Please email me with any questions.  Thanks.
