Never Heard of It: Solyto Break Camping

Yep, here’s another French oddball, this time in the form of a three-wheeler with a rudimentary canvas top.

Notably, this car sold at Auctions America’s California 2014 Auction in July for $7,425.  So, the buyer is looking for a quick flip, as no work is evident.  Even more interesting is that this car is a remnant of the Bruce Weiner Museum microcar auction, where many records were set.  That buyer paid $20,700 in February of 2013.  I don’t think microcar mania is over.  The Weiner museum sale pulled everything up for a while, but only the most desirable cars have the demand and interest to maintain high prices.  These ‘never heard of it’ cars are going back to lower prices, which means you don’t have to spend a small fortune to be the only one on your block (and in a 3,567 mile radius) with one of these Oddimobiles.

That said, I think this thing is certainly cool.  I struggle to see it as a camping vehicle, but I’m a little spoiled by Westfalia.  Needless to say, the Lane Motor Museum already has a Solyto.
