The Original Stelvio was not a Crossover. Behold the Autech Zagato Stelvio AZ1

Some won’t know the Nissan Leopard, but, in the US might know a reskinned version known as the Infiniti M30. This rear-driver shares some guts with the Z31 300ZX. Today’s feature, however, is a Leopard with a really cheesy Italian suit made of aluminum and fashioned by Zagato. Yes, folks, Zagato has made some real oddballs and this is one of them.  Add in Nissan’s home market tuning subsidiary, Autech, and weirdness is guaranteed!

This is a Japan market vehicle with right hand drive and, unfortunately, an automatic transmission. The mileage is listed as 53,000 miles. Power comes from a quad-cam, single turbo VG30DET – something between the Z31 VG30ET and the Z32 VG30DETT and which never came to the US. We imagine it feels plenty quick in this relatively small package. What’s a rather ugly oddball like this worth to you?

It’s hard to spot the Leopard here, but there’s plenty of weird to go around.

Yes, those front fender/hood bumps hide mirrors! Remember, this was a Japan market vehicle.

The face is one only Zagato’s mother could love. But…it’s unique!

The rear is overdone in its “underdoneness.”

That hood has a rather unique set of cuts.

Here’s a look at one of those mirrors.

Interior has some luxury touches, but doesn’t look too remarkably different from a Leopard/M30.

Yes, there’s a back seat.

Wood is a bit Biturbo-esque, which isn’t an entirely good thing.

Under the hood is the VG30DET – and engine never sold in the US. This was a quad-cam, single turbo engine and rated at the mandatory 276HP level in Japan.

Seller’s Description:
For sale very rare Autech Zagato Stelvio 1991, This car was built by Zagato in Milan Italy for Autech a subsidiary of Nissan. There where supposed to be 104 built but in reality only approx 88 where built due to the fact the car cost 18 million Yen in the late 1980’s! Mine is number 62 denoted by the silver plaque on the dash and the chassis number. The engine is a V6 3000cc quad cam twin turbo producing over 300bhp, with adjustable suspension. The gearbox is automatic with overdrive they all where. The Italian interior is very luxurious leather and wood, and the electrical gadgets fitted where way ahead of it’s time.

The Zagato was only ever sold in Japan and so they are all Right hand drive, most where painted Red with only a few painted black, silver or blue. As far as I know only a handfull have been exported from Japan. Mine had four private owners in Japan before I exported it to the UK. The mileage is a very low 86,000KM 53,000 miles in 27 years. The car is very original and unlike some Zagato’s very reliable, starts and runs very well.

I do not know of any Zagato Stelvio’s in the US so this car would be a great one for your collection, it always get admired and talked about when I drive it. and it is one of the most affordable cars produced by Zagato. Values can only go up, Also as it is over 25 years old No problem for export to the US.

I will deliver the car to a shipping port and assist you with dealing with an agent here for export. Any questions please let me know.
