The anti-probe?

The first generation Ford Probe GT was a rather extroverted hatchback with some serious 80s styling cues.  It’s mechanical twin, the Mazda MX-6 GT was a more understated two-door sedan that offered the same enthusiast driving experience.

The only thing missing here is four-wheel steering, but that might be good in terms of reliability and maintenance.  The seller claims a little over 79K miles here and the condition makes that believable.  With a low starting price, it will be interesting to see what the market says about value, whether or not the reserve is met.

$2,025 with seven bids and reserve not met

It’s easier to find clapped-out MX-6s these days than nice, stock ones, but this one is the exception.  The wheels are from an RX-7, but that’s a minor change and they look good.

The obligatory turbo badge is quite tame on this 80s beast.

The interior looks great on this one.  Analog gauges are a welcome sight in a car from this era.

Seats looks nice and supportive.

Here’s the 2.2L turbo I4, looking very clean and original.

Original wheels are included in case you wish to be a purist.  Some day, that will make a big difference, and these really should be kept with the car.

Such a cool car. Weighing in at 2,700 pounds, it wasn't the lightest of the day but with the turbo (145hp/190 ft lbs and believed to be very underrated), it was one heck of a fun car to drive.

Thanks for posting that. It brings back memories of cruising in my friends's mom's car in high school.
