Strange kit car: World Star?

Even the seller doesn’t offer much info on what this is.  World Star Safari?  World Star Convoy?  It seems not to matter, as even the interwebs offer little help. We did manage to find a pickup version for sale on The Samba, however, so the World Star part seems to be confirmed.  Obviously, this is here because it’s strange, but we also like the ad, with its references to Jurassic Park (USP!).

The lost title adds bonus points here.

$935 with four bids and no reserve

12/07/2013 update: SOLD for $1,626 with 11 bids (what on earth is the buyer doing with this?)

Seller says 1980, but the styling, while questionable at best, says it’s newer than that.

The wheels definitely scream 1990s (or possibly 2013 in China).

Given it’s not entirely clear what the hell this thing is, sourcing interior parts should be – uh – no problem.

Great for date nights!

VW engine that runs on gasoline or propane?  Sure!

I helped build that car in El Cajon California, Fiberglass unibody construction,VW motor and transaxle with a straight rubber bushing rear axle.
