When the Mustang GT was still powered by a 4.6-liter V8 with 300 horsepower, the Saleen 302 was a badass with 400 horsepower on tap. When the car was introduced for the 2007 model year, the first 500 cars were limited edition Parnelli Jones models and went as far as they legally could toward duplicating the look of the 1970 Mustang Boss 302 Trans Am racer(s) made famous with Parnelli Jones at the wheel.
This is a 10,000 mile car in claimed perfect condition, although the seller claims to have upgraded the navigation, audio, wheels and headlamps. Those all sound like things that can be undone fairly easily.
This was a $60K+ car when new, so it seems like a bit of a bargain now if you think it has collector potential. People sitting on Saleen SSCs since 1989 have been hoping that Saleens will skyrocket like Shelbys, but it hasn’t happened yet. Presumably, the value of this car dropped like a rock when the 2010 Mustang GT came out with competitive specs at less than half the price. Nonetheless, this is a cool piece of history and would look awesome parked next to a genuine 1970 Mustang Boss 302.

The seller claims to have changed the ‘rims’, but these look a lot like the Panasport-style wheels that came stock. Hmm. Note the 1970-style stripes, but the lack of Boss emblems or decals. Ford was not willing to license the name, knowing they were coming out with their own Boss 302 within several years. Black front and rear spoilers are also throwbacks to ’69-70.
Finally, the “sport slats” (AKA rear louvers) are straight from 1970. The scoop in place of the rear quarter window is actually a Shelby trick, so I’m not sure why it’s here.
I’m not sure why there is no shot of the front seats, but they look like this is stock. Hopefully, they haven’t been damaged.
All 500 had the signatures of Parnelli Jones and Steve Saleen on the center stack.
Things look tidy here, and the shaker is awesome.
