Dream Wagon or just Nightmare Engine?

On paper, this is the ultimate car for a guy like me.  It offers a manual trans, AWD, wagon body, eight cylinder performance and rarity.  What’s not to love?

The catch is that the Volkswagen W8 engine was only offered for a short while and only in the Passat.  Add onto that the fact that it’s a 2000s VW – something not known for reliability.  Any buyer will eventually need lots of cash for mechanics and/or a desire to become a rare expert in W8 maintenance through mandatory experience.

Naturally, I’d still love to have it.

The seller here claims 77K miles, which is pretty good news.  The custom wheels look okay, but it’s a shame the originals aren’t included.  With low miles, one can hope to have a trouble-free car for a good while before the big bills come due, then decide whether to unload or fix.  The asking price seems a bit ‘crack pipe’ here, however,

If you’re reading this you know how unique this vehicle is. If you don’t know or have never heard of the infamous Volkswagen Passat W8 4MOTION, then move on. They only made 100 sport 6-speeds. 6-speed manual, AWD, leather & loaded. Custom wheels and tinted windows. This is a collector and will only increase in value. It’s always been a 3rd car and used sparingly. Price is firm as this beauty only has 77,000 miles. No test drives without deposit & emails or texts with “offers” will be deleted as well. Happy to discuss offers in person.
