Your Snipe Hunt is Over!

Anyone who camped as a kid knows about snipe hunts.  Despite the fact that snipe is a type of bird, we were all later told they were fruitless exercises meant to cause the youngest and/or most annoying on any given campout to disappear in the woods for extended periods.  That has been proven wrong, as we have found not only a Snipe, but super one!

Behold the Humber Super Snipe:

Humber was a British automaker which dated to late 1800s, but was part of the Rootes Group (think Sunbeam) for several decades.  The company was primarily focused on luxury cars, like this one.

The seller says the engine needs work.  The hardest part might be finding someone to work on it if you can’t do it yourself!  These have unique inline six cylinder engines; but, as the seller states, parts might not be too hard to find in the UK.

Sedan lines are classic and American-influenced, as was typical at the time.  To our eyes, it shares some styling with a Checker – likely because they date to the same period.

American-inspired styling continues to the rear.

Is this a Humber or a Snipe?

Interior is classic European luxury and left-hand drive indicates this is a genuine export-spec car.  We’re not sure how easy it is to find a dashpad replacement, but a good interior shop could handle that.  The rest appears to be in good shape.

Seat upholstery needs some help.  Bench seat is a throwback.

This luxury vehicle has wooden rear trays, a la Jaguar.  Wood appears to be in very good condition.
