Twice in a lifetime?

Recently, we featured a Honda S800 Coupe in unfinished condition and it’s no secret this is one of my favorite cars.  Here we have the S600, which preceded the S800 and has the funky chain-drive rear end.

This one needs restoration, but the seller claims it will run on fuel from a can.  Would you restore it or just fix the fuel system and hydraulics and drive as-is for a while?

Given the low starting price, it will be interesting to see what the market has to say about this one, with or without a met reserve.

02/19/2014 update:  SOLD for $8,200 with 25 bids!

Lower fender/rocker rust is obvious enough.  The seller claims the floor pans, etc. are in good shape, so this may not be TOO horrible.

Things don’t look bad back here.

Interior appears to need everything to get back to new-ish condition, but it’s all there and serviceable if you want to drive with patina.

The seller claims this is the original engine, which is a nice touch.

Up for auction is my 1965 Honda S600 Coupe. I purchased this car years ago in hopes to restore it some day but my priorities have changed so now its time to let it go to someone else that can restore and enjoy it. This Honda does run on gas from a fuel can but has no brakes or clutch due to leaking brake and clutch master cylinders (very common for these early S cars). Body is pretty straight for it’s age but does have some rust in the lower front fenders and rockers (also very common for the early S cars). Also has some rust bubbling under a couple of the stainless moldings. The floors, frame, roof, doors, hood, hatch, quarters and the rest of the car are rust free. This Honda will need a complete restoration to bring it back to its glory. These early S cars are very rare and hard to find and were never imported into the states. Please ask all questions before bidding. Thanks

Forgot to add that this Honda does have the original engine. Serial number matches the data plate. Thanks
