Track or Street? Guiseppe’s Alfa GTV6 Callaway Twin Turbo

Okay, so this isn’t an original Callaway car, but the engine and turbo setup were swapped in from a real one which was wrecked.  Purists may scoff, but we’re rather glad this engine lives on in another Alfa and wasn’t scrapped with the car.

This is almost a plank canvas – could easily be a track car or could be finished out for the street.  The seller must be an Alfa specialist  (named Guiseppe!), as he seems to offer many parts/options with the car, depending on buyer preference.

We’d get it complete enough to be road legal and then consider a rolling restoration back to a resto-mod street car.  The bad news here is the starting price doesn’t reflect the car’s incomplete nature, as this feels more like a sub-$5K car.  An original Callaway in this condition might be another story.  Hopefully, a good price is negotiated and this cool 80s oddity once again provides some fun for a loving owner.

Sheet metal looks good and straight for the most part.  Apparently, there is only minor rust in one fender.  The hood scoop is included in the sale.

The rear continues the ‘straight but incomplete theme.  Any potential buyer thinking about restoration will want to know pricing on bumpers, trim and badges.

Despite rally car usage, the interior seems fairly complete.  The seller says carpet can be included in the sale.  Door panels, too?

The seller says a later Alfa EFI was adapted.  The aftermarket controller seems to be part of that system.  Given Frankenstein engine and EFI, along with boost, someone good with AEM or Megasquirt EFI might want to just start over on this one.

Here’s the top-mounted, Callaway intercooler and one of the turbos.

This is a 1982 Alfa Romeo GTV 6 that has a CALLAWAY TWIN TURBO MOTOR and 3.0 liter TRANSMISSION. The motor was sourced from a 1985 GTV 6 that was an original Callaway GTV6 and had been in an accident. At that time, this car was prepared as a street / time trial car. It has a special fuel injection system and a transaxle from a 3.0 Milano. It has an Autopower Roll Cage. The car is in primer as pictured. It runs and drives, but has not been driven regularly. If you own a nice GTV 6 and want to buy this just for the motor. You can take this car and make it into whatever you like hot street / track car. Car currently has the original period blue interior. Once again, it depends on the direction you are planning to take. The Callaway style hood intake scoop is in the trunk as pictured along with all the other parts necessary to return it to street configuration, I can even provide original carpet if desired. There is some rust as pictured on right front fender, I can provide a replacement fender if required. The car is located on Long Island NY and can be seen and driven with prior arrangements.
