Torque steer and pickled fish

Named after a famous Saab fighter, the 9-3 Viggen was Saab’s short-lived performance entry, produced for the 1999 through 2002 model years (though some claim a small number of 1998s).  Its 2.3L, turbocharged four cylinder put out 225 to 230 HP, depending on the year and the ECU limited first gear torque to cope with torque steer in this front-driver.  The car had a host of other upgrades, including suspension, aero parts and interior changes.  These are rare finds, these days and, by all accounts, are fun cars to drive, despite torque steer that comes with the boost.

The first thing we notice with this example is the HIDEOUS, non-stock wheels, but that can be corrected easily enough.  This one seems to have a few needs, which could be minor, but we hope the claimed oil leak from drain plug doesn’t mean the threads are damaged.  In any case, an offer around half the asking price, some nice wheels (preferably stock) and a few minor fixes could yield an unusual and fun driver with 92K miles.

The seller claims he or she is selling due family ‘getting bigger’.  Maybe they should try diet and exercise?

Update:  Ended unsold.  Relisted and SOLD for $5K.

Most Viggens wore the same blue exterior color.

The Viggen badge is just above the side market light, aft of the front wheelwell.  It can also be found on the sill plates and seats.

The spoiler was unique to the Viggen when launhed, but only someone truly in the know would pick one out from behind.

Viggen logo is subtly embossed into the seats.

engine runs strong but steering wheel and front of the car vibrates at high speed or fast acceleration because of bad cv joints, has oil leak from oil drain plug and check engine light is on because of throttle body needs to be reset. I am not a mechanic and this is all i know. i am the original owner and have cared very well of this car, all repairs and maintenance have been done at saab from day one. if you like the car and know about the viggen then you know how special it is. i have to sell the car because my family is bigger now and forced me to get a bigger car. i love this car but it has to go to someone who can appreciate it.  it comes as is without any warranties. all sales are final with no returns. please ask and come see it for yourself.

i prefer cash in person other payment can be arranged, ask before buying the car.
