Forgotten for Many Reasons: Pontiac Lemans by Daewoo

The Pontiac Lemans that most people remember was a 1960s-70s GM intermediate, one version of which was the GTO for quite some time.  Most have tried hard to forget the Daewoo-built Pontiac Lemans of the 1980s and early 90s, one of many captive imports designed to help with CAFE.

There’s really nothing to love here except pure forgettableness, if that’s even a word (spell check says no). BUT, be honest…when’s the last time you saw one?  These shitboxes used to be fairly common, but seem not to have made it.  Perhaps that’s what questionable reliability and complete lack of enthusiast interest do for a model.

This one appears to be remarkably good shape, considering what it is.  Of course, we’re concerned about the ‘straight pipe’ the previous owner installed (why?).

Apparent good condition carries over to the interior.  At least it’s not an automatic shitbox…

Seller Notes: “Its a decent little car for the year. It gets good gas milage and drives out very well. It does have a straight pipe that was installed by a previous owner. Very clean interior, the car could use a valve adjustment as it ticks a little when started, this is reflected in the asking price. Send me an email with any questions.”

Perfect grocery getter or commuter. This car gets upper 30’s mpg, I can fill it up with $25. The car does have a tick when started-I think it needs a valve adjustment and this is reflected in the price of the car. Other than that I am not aware of any issues. The car drives and handles very well. The exhaust rattles and is a little loud for my taste. The previous owner installed a straight pipe.
