BMW Isetta 300. Is this a deal, these days?

Here was have the classic BMW Isetta, in claimed original, unrestored condition.  This 1957 model is a 300, which means the classic one-door, two-seater and not the three-wheeled version.  Of course, it also means the single-piston engine displaces 300cc, or 0.3 liters.

If this checks out as a true runner in original condition, is this now a potential bargain?

Microcars have been on the rise for a while, but they seemed to skyrocket after the Bruce Weiner microcar museum auctioned off a ton of the very best in the world all at once.  The record was set by a Messerchmitt Tiger at over $300K.  Isettas sold in a wide range from about $12K for a car in need of restoration to about $90K for a rare and perfect one.  Cars similar to this got about $35K, which means this does indeed have investment potential if it is as described and has few needs.  A full restoration would blow the budget, but a few parts here and there wouldn’t.

I think this is a great deal at about $20K and I’m thinking seriously about picking it up.  It is local, after all, and is pretty easy to store.  I like it enough that I’m hesitant to post it, but maybe someone will do me a favor and snap it up before I try to scrape money together!

It sure looks clean in the few available photos.  What about underneath?

Luggage rack is way cool!

Interior is pretty awesome with the plaid material.  Was this original?
