Biggest Transporter?

As though this giant VW from Holland (?) isn’t strange enough, the owner put a Buick V6 in it.  What more can we say?

Rare Oversized Van from Holland. It is 3 feet longer, and 2 feet taller.
There are very few in US, which sold for $15,000 to $25,000 in good condition.

CA License # 2CFH616 California DMV registered until March 2012 VIN# 26911388S
1969 VW Euro Stretch Van. Kamperink of Holland “Bestelwagon Special”

1600cc Dual Port currently installed. Big 3800cc V6 engine recently removed for painting & available.

Oversized Van, 3 ft longer, 2 ft taller. Great for long windsurfers, kayaks, bikes, and motorcycles. Very fast. See in Irvine or Laguna Beach, Orange County, California. Modified in Holland from a Type ll pickup by Camperink. No accidents, but needs rust bodywork, paint, brakes & CV joint boots. It has a rear bumper replacement motorcycle carrier, which allows you to roll a cycle up on it. It’s quick to load/unload.
The Kamperink Company made VW Transporter conversions for VW of Germany. A transporter was stretched one meter (40″) and raised to over 6′. It used all stock mechanical parts. It’s a very clean and professional result. There are no hills in Holland where they work just fine. The starter and trans are stock VW. All the original VW wiring and mechanical connections are untouched. I replaced the front axel with newer disk brakes & all wheels use newer 112mm 5lug pattern. The cargo area is great. It’s over 5′ wide and nearly 12′ long. A six foot man can stand up inside, it is wide enough for a queen sized bed, sliding rooftop skylights, side and rear doors.

Sliding Roof: The top has 2 sliding windows. Nice for camping.
Wheels: 1969 had wide 5 bolt pattern. I replaced with narrow 5x112mm, front rotors and rear drums. The gearing can use a tall rear tire. I used 31×10.5 x 15. It still has more than enough torque to use a taller tire or higher 4th gear in the trans with the 3800cc engine.
Brakes: 1969 used shoe brakes, so I replaced the front with disc brakes and 1979 dual Calipers. Most brake components replaced new in 2011.
Gauges: VDO Tach, Oil temp, Oil Pressure & Amps.
