Best bet on a Biturbo?

Usually, taking on someone’s project car isn’t the best idea.  Occasionally, it works out perfectly, though, if just the right amount of work was done and done right.  Here, we’re not sure about the quality of the work, but one very critical item has been taken care of which makes this quite possible the best possible Maserati Biturbo.  Yes, the Maserati engine has been removed and replaced by a Ford 302!

The Biturbo is a car we love to hate.  The basic ingredients sound great and the rumor is that these are fun to drive, but they’re known for such horrible quality and reliability that they’re something of a punching bag.  One of our favorite sites, Shitbox Market Letter, made fun of these in 1996, when they weren’t even old.  The early versions of this vehicle were very well known for fires…need we say more?  Of course, this is from a guy who ha a Vanagon.

These were never beautiful, but were very cool in an 80s way.  Gold BBS wheels are perfect here and we love the dark blue over tan.

Quad exhaust was an original feature.  Boxy rear reminds one of an E30 (if squinting).

Automatic is a major bummer, but could be changed with great effort and expense!  It’s possible the clock is missing…  We don’t really like the wood Grant GT wheel here, but that’s easy to change.

Yep, looks like a V8 – we wonder if this is a remotely common swap.
