Before there was a Passat, there was the Dasher. This was Volkswagen’s big step into a larger, water-cooled, front-wheel-drive car. That was relatively modern stuff in the early 70s. These are essentially identical to period Audi 80s, but only VW got the hatchback bodies.
Bad news here is it’s an automatic and likely REALLY can’t get out of its own way. This car is here because it’s genuinely unusual AND because the seller’s video is so utterly and completely awesome. Further, the sale is claimed to be for a good cause; so, if you’re interested, scoop this oddity up! You won’t likely find one in this condition with so few miles – there just wasn’t a good reason to preserve a Dasher. Just don’t expect driving excitement.
